Design Lead, Content Platform
Web & Mobile Irvine

The Web & Mobile Content Platform team is looking for a seasoned and system-thinking Design Lead to add their skills and vision to our Content Platform, the portfolio of products that power news, patch notes, comics, content-sharing and discussion across dozens of Blizzard websites, mobile apps, and games.

This design leader will help communicate and handle foundational work that impacts many teams throughout Blizzard. This means guiding a portfolio of platform-focused products that enable teams to dramatically improve the reach, accessibility and impact of Blizzard editorial and produced content; and evolving Blizzard’s forums solution into an expansive discussion platform for player interaction in and out of our games. This person will act as the team’s main design conduit, spearheading user research and experience development, communication with partners, initiatives to drive internal adoption, and everything in between.

Our team is a group of fun-loving, iteration-focused folk who don’t take themselves too seriously. We’re searching for teammates who are equally curious, eager, and future-thinking. Our work plays an integral role in Blizzard’s journey from game developer to global entertainment company: spearheading the development of new discussion venues, guild and interactive social features in Blizzard games, and enabling Blizzard’s content to reach more devices, more channels, and more players than ever before.

Responsibilities

Craft a compelling vision using cross-company feedback from teams across Blizzard and bring it together with human centered design approaches augmented by analytics, user research and player data in service of discussion venues like forums and Blizzard’s visionary technology framework that will connect Blizzard’s editorial and community content to game clients, websites, native apps and more.

Work closely & collaborate with various leaders and partners throughout Blizzard to construct a cohesive end-to-end experience and advanced lifecycle for structured content rendered through an enterprise content management system using an expertly tuned set of tools and frameworks such as prototypes, wireframes, flowcharts and strategy design documents to ensure high-quality through every step of the process.

Shepherd & plan the roadmap, product catalog and outward communications of an extensive portfolio with a forward thinking focus on multi-year goals for the team and then executing against them. You will bolster excitement, provide demonstration for and support adoption of various internal products including but not limited to Blizzard’s enterprise CMS, discussion platform and other internal syndication services.

Lead & Develop a team of designers and act as a pillar of the team leadership as peers to Engineering and Program Management leads including team planning, partner management, performance management, talent planning, and development and recognition.

  • Shown success in leading successful projects at enterprise scale that address cross-platform internal and external user needs simultaneously.
  • Experience directly supervising multiple employees
  • Curiosity about new technologies, process methodology, and online communities
  • Portfolio or academic expertise of systems design, user-flow and conceptual problem-solving a plus
