World Environment Art Supervisor
World of Warcraft Irvine

The World Environment Art Supervisor will help the team create vast, expansive, and epic lands. The ideal candidate would help realize art creation from mountain ranges to forests, and other regions of Azeroth. Experience with hand painted art styles, creating terrain, foliage, and natural elements are the key areas of strength to have in this role on the World of Warcraft team. You will work closely with the Lead Environment Artist, Art Directors and other art leads to help drive the style forward.

LEADERSHIP DUTIES

  • Create environment art (trees, ground textures, foliage, rocks, etc) and other benchmark assets
  • Be the voice of the environment art team
  • Provide guidance during creative discussions with design and art leadership
  • Make decisions that keep the production moving forward
  • Partner with production to ensure schedules and plans meet business needs
  • Partner with art management to ensure team is healthy and strong

DAY TO DAY TASKS

  • Provide direction for the environment art team. This includes painting over screen captures, manipulating 3D models and painting textures
  • Work closely with art leadership to help achieve a consistent vision
  • Explore a wide variety of ideas that push the WoW style
  • Ability to prototype and create block-out assets
  • Ability to identify, mentor and grow talent
  • Communicate with production, design, and other departments

YOUR BACKGROUND 

  • 5+ years of experience developing video game environment art
  • Understand real-time game development needs
  • Self-driven, passionate, creative problem solver, and a great team first attitude
  • Ability to explore a wide variety of ideas that push the World of Warcraft style
  • Ability to identify, mentor and grow talent
  • Self-driven, passionate, creative problem solver, and a great team first attitude
