Senior Environment Modeling/Lighting Artist, In-Game Cinematics

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a well-rounded Senior 3D Environment Modeling and Lighting Artist to work with its In-Game Cinematics Team. You have the skills to thrive within a nimble, agile team and the drive to collaboratively make creative decisions with regards to asset creation, design and composition. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for learning our pipelines, building assets and lighting the multiple universes which will continue to define our cinematic style. Your work is clean and efficient; you learn styles quickly and work with minimal supervision. You love mentorship, and function best as part of a diverse team. We are looking for a fearless superstar, with a passionate desire to help expand our ability to tell rich, thoughtful stories.

Requirements:

  • Proven ability to create legendary environments, and the glorious bits and pieces therein.
  • Be technically strong and artistically conscious, especially regarding lighting.
  • Have experience with game engines, development process and level design
  • Masterfully assemble efficient UVs and topology for varying production specs.
  • Have a savvy knowledge of animation/VFX production pipelines with a focus on lighting, modeling, pre-vis and layout.
  • We thrive as a group of self-motivated, highly communicative, passionate gamers. We teach and mentor. We want you to show passion for those virtues as well.
  • Interpret artistic direction (with or without reference) by being an intuitive and active listener
  • Understand and share the goals of production. Ability to openly communicate bumps in the road as you see them coming
  • Based on storyboards or scripts, ability to kit-bash environments using existing assets
  • Proven ability to consciously re-evaluate workload based on needs of other pipesteps.
  • Guru with programs like Maya/Max, Zbrush/Mudbox, and Photoshop
  • Be a maestro at problem solving creative challenges on the fly. Yes, sometimes this means asking for help. We’re a team and look forward to you being a part of it!

Pluses:

  • 4+ years of feature film/VFX/game cinematics experience as an environment modeling artist
  • Deep understanding of architecture/foundation in traditional arts
  • Experience rendering with Renderman/Redshift or equivalent
  • Real passion for Blizzard style, our IPs, and a craving to help take it all to the next level
  • Possess a diverse range of styles which reflect understanding our engaging visual lore
  • World building experience
  • Live for and breathe extraordinary design
