IT DATA CENTER ENGINEER INTERN

The internship program offers the opportunity to pause your studies for one summer and work side-by-side with Blizzard Entertainment employees in your area of interest, doing real work that oftentimes ends up in production. QUEST OBJECTIVES

Blizzard wants a student bent on becoming an exceptional IT professional to join us in summer 2019 as an IT Data Center Engineer Intern. You’ll be working and leveling-up alongside a group of network, system, storage and cloud engineers, all with the goal of supporting, maintaining and optimizing Blizzard’s worldwide gaming environment. The ideal candidate is a hardware ninja with some programming skills and a hunger for automating repeatable tasks you come across in the Data Center environment.

  • Responsible for installing and base configuring IT hardware in Blizzard’s Data Center’s
  • Learn to operate, monitor and maintain power, cooling and life safety systems that are critical to Data Center availability
  • Perform Data Center capacity and asset management tasks
  • Document and design Data Center floor plans, rack layouts, and power utilization
  • Assist with hardware installation & troubleshooting
  • Manage and instruct remote hands vendors that are in various Data Centers throughout the world

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university
  • Returning for at least one more semester or quarter following the Summer 2019 internship
  • Able to work full time hours for 11 – 12 weeks at the Blizzard office indicated in this job posting between May 2019 – August 2019 or June 2019 – September 2019 (group dates depend on when you get out of school)
  • Authorized to work in the US

LEVEL REQUIREMENTS  

  • Familiarity with multiple IT infrastructure disciplines and how they interface with each other such as networking, database administration, storage, cloud and enterprise servers
  • Solid written and verbal communications skills
  • Passion for computer hardware, have you built your own PC or server?
  • Ability to work well with individuals in multiple departments
  • Knowledgeable on Public and Private cloud technologies
  • Ability to act quickly, competently, and confidently
  • Ability to use discretion when presented with sensitive information or confidential issues

RECOMMENDED TALENTS  

  • Highly motivated and self-driven, capable of working with little instruction to resolve demanding tasks
  • Entry level programming skills: object oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, etc..
  • Ability to work with cross functional internal teams
  • Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking capabilities
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate complex ideas, issues, concepts and solutions to all levels of an organization
